The Appleton Collection includes more than 2,000 glass photographic negatives, taken in Media, Pennsylvania and vicinity from 1888 to 1909. Media Historic Archives received the collection in 1988, but until 2018 most of these pictures had never been seen by the public.

Address according to 1897 Media Directory. The decorations may be for the celebration of Media's Semi-Centennial in 1900, or for some other patriotic holiday. The five butchers in the picture are all wearing top hats, and seem to be hamming it up for the camera.

Joseph Booth married Martha Hoskins in Philadelphia, June 2, 1811. Marriage performed by William Rogers, D.D. The married couple were both from Upper Chichester, Delaware County.
