The Appleton Collection includes more than 2,000 glass photographic negatives, taken in Media, Pennsylvania and vicinity from 1888 to 1909. Media Historic Archives received the collection in 1988, but until 2018 most of these pictures had never been seen by the public.
John Kirschnek had a jewelry store at 108 W. State St., according to 1902 Media Directory; his store may have been successor to J. S. Chapman, shown in this picture. Also shown are the Burdsall & Adams Segar or Cigar Manufacturers at 106 W. State, and ____ Paul Hardware, probably 110 W. State St.

Appleton misidentified this as the Upper Darby Meeting House. For a full chronology of this meeting, visit the Haverford College Quaker and Special Collections. Image HC12-15806 is probably by Appleton, as it is almost identical to AP-5849 and clearly from a glass negative taken on the same day.
