Shows church at 9th and Sayville in Eddystone, with trolley No.16 of the Chester Traction Co. This was likely taken by Appleton in support of a legal case regarding a trolley accident. A large factory is in the background.
Caption on reverse reads: "Edgemont, Pa. on West Chester Pike. Car line ran from 69th St. to West Chester along West Chester Pike." Donated by Mrs. Hoyt (nee Sills), April 11, 1982. This building, which is no longer standing, was on the south side of West Chester Pike, just west of Providence Road. Address is approximate, but roughly where the Glam Nail Lounge stood in 2019.
Photography probably taken in support of a legal case related to an accident at this location. Farm buildings, fields, and houses in valley at bottom of road.
Brief note in newspaper called this one of the most desirable properties in Swarthmore. Photo might have been taken for the sale of the property, which happened in August 1902.
